Urinary
Tract Infections
Symptoms:
- Frequent
urge to urinate, but can only pass a small amount.
- Pain
(burning or stringing sensation) when urinating.
- Bloodstained,
cloudy or foul-smelling urine.
- Discomfort
or ache in the lower abdomen and lower back.
- Fever
and chills (very rate).
Complications:
- Pyelonephritis
(kidney infection or damage), if the infection moves up to the kidney(s).
Common
causes:
In women,
the urinary bladder gets infected due to:
- Front
after passing stool or urination as it enables the anal or vaginal
bacteria to enter the urethra.
- Sexual
intercourse or foreplay, wherein unwashed hands or penis touches the
woman's genital area.
- Inserting
tampons with unwashed hands.
- Use
of spermicide contraceptives.
