Encourage people who attempt to carry in their work routine (despite prescribed bed rest) to schedule physical and mental relaxation. Discourage business phone calls and correspondence. Explore ways, with the person and significant others or coworkers, of temporarily reducing work responsibilities. Helping people with ulcers cope with psychosocial problems is a vital part of intervention. Take time to learn about their stressors. Discussing coping and relaxation techniques may enable people to better deal with their problems.
