Sinusitis

Degrees of Sinusitis:

There are different degrees of sinusitis, each with its own set of symptoms and treatments.

  • Sinusitis often feels like a cold you can't shake and a number of self-care remedies can help put you back on the path to clear breathing.
  • Acute sinusitis can include facial pain, fever, and greenish nasal phlegm and usually requires prescribed antibiotics and corticosteroid medications.
  • Chronic sinusitis symptoms are often milder than the acute ones but may persist longer than three weeks even with antibiotic treatment. In some cases surgery may be the necessary treatment.

Complications of Sinusitis:

It is important to seek medical care for sinusitis. Without attention the condition can become acute or chronic and in rare cases lead to complications such as infections of the eye bones. Sinus infections can also lead to meningitis resulting in brain damage or blood clots in the veins around the sinuses that can have consequences similar to a stroke.
