Alzheimer's Disease

Treatment:

There is no known cure for the Alzheimer's Disease, nor is there any way of repairing damage that has already occurred to the brain cells. Most treatment aims to relieve the symptoms of the condition. This is particularly important in the early stages of the disease when the patient is aware of his/her own situation.
As the disease progresses, it may be necessary for the patient to move to an assisted living or nursing home, and with help, dignity and quality of life can be maintained.

Psychotherapy (Psychological therapy)

In the early stages of the disease, this may help to reduce the symptoms of depression and agitation.

Medication:

All drugs can be grouped together by how they work (i.e., their specific mode of action).

Always consult your healthcare provider if you have any questions or concerns about the medication you have been prescribed.
